Rodri Gonzales joined Manchester City in 2019-20 season and quickly became main stay at the centre of midfield. Within a couple of years he emerged as the best midfielder in Premier League and his performances were rewarded with financially improved contract in 2022/23 season when he signed a new 5-year deal worth £220,000 a week (including all performance related bonuses). His first contract when joining City was worth around £110,000 a week which goes to show how important he is for the club.

Rodri's performances for both City and his native country Spain over the last two years have nothing but incredible. He was part of treble winning City side which he followed with Spain winning the UEFA Euro and ultimately named as Ballon D'or winning in 2024. His current contract at Man City is set to expire in 2027 and we can expect another contract extension once he get back to full fitness after long injury layoff.
